Rehabilitation of Urinary Incontinence Following Delayed Bladder Exstrophy Repair in a Female Child

Bladder exstrophy is relatively rare and even more rarely referred for rehabilitation. A nine-year-old girl with congenital bladder from Samar presented an abnormally low umbilicus, abdominal opening below the anteriorly located anus. The patient has had no prior medical consult. She underwent primary repair of exstrophy, anterior innominate bone osteotomy, application external fixators, traction. Postoperatively, was multidisciplinary rehabilitation management. program consisted training clean intermittent catheterization, use voiding diaries, fluid restriction, timed voiding, electrical stimulation, pelvic floor muscle exercises. Bed sore care, pulmophysiotherapy, strengthening exercises lower extremities were also implemented. At present there are validated guidelines in management urinary incontinence among female children surgery, specifically exstrophy. This case report aims to a pediatric delayed repair, resulting improved outcome.
